Meet the Coaches

Head Soccer Coach: Bill Ward - email
Bill Ward grew up in Houston, TX. He played club soccer for the Kingwood Cosmos and graduated from Humble HS in 1992. After graduating from Texas ATM University in 1996, Coach Ward returned to the Houston area and began his career as the head soccer coach of Lamar HS, where he was honored as the Coca-Cola Houston Coaches Association Coach of the Year after his first season in 1998 and again in 2001. While at Lamar, his teams went undefeated in district play for one season, won two district titles and qualified for the playoffs 5 times, including one regional tournament appearance. Coach Ward holds an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and currently plays soccer in the Houston Football Association (HFA) for Draxis FCin the Premier Division.

Assistant Coach - JV A: Steven Poss - email
Born in Rosenberg, Texas and moved to the Katy ISD in first grade. Coach Poss played soccer for Mayde Creek HS and was a 3 year letterman. He Captained Mayde Creek to the State Finals in 1995 and played club soccer for the Hurricanes winning division I state in 93. After high school, Coach Poss played for one year at San Jacinto South and then finished his collegiate career playing soccer at Texas A&M University winning the NACS during his senior year. Coach Poss also currently coaches the U-17 Bellaire Blaze and has a home at the Aggie soccer camps every summer. His current credentials include a “D” USSF license and a level I and II goalkeeping license from NSCAA.

Assistant Coach - JV B: Ryan Ratcliff - email
Ryan Ratcliff grew up as a military brat in San Antonio, Texas. He played club soccer for the San Antonio Heat and played 3 years for Samuel Clemens H.S. After graduating from there in 2000, he went on to Texas A&M and graduated from there in 2005. He then came to Taylor H.S. where he teaches Algebra I and Math Models, and helped coach cross country last semester
