2008 Match Reports

1/29/08 @ Mayde Creek    0-4  (0-1-2)
The first district game was a very windy problem for the Mustangs. The mustangs started with the wind against them and Mayde Creek looking to use the wind. We defended well but we just could put anything together against the wind. So after one half they scored a goal on us and they were awarded a PK which gave them another goal, so it was 0-2 at half. The second half seemed to be more promising, with the wind with us. The match was more even with the wind, but still nothing was happening with opportunities. Mayde Creek got another goal about half way through the second half, and then the Mustangs played hard for the last several minutes to get a goal. However another PK was awarded to Mayde Creek in the last 20 seconds to end the game. Very unlucky. Man of the Match – The wind

1/15/08  Humble  0-0  (0-0-2) 
In a game that was shortened because of some weather problems the Mustangs played very hard from the beginning to end of a 30 minute game. We played so hard that we dominated the game and took many shots causing Humble to be on their heels the whole game. However, even with tons of shots we could never get the ball in the back of the net. It was a great game just showing how well these guys can play together. Man of the Match – Roberto Puig

1/12/08   @Seven Lakes   1-1  (0-0-1)
A match where wind was dominant, the Mustangs tried taking it to the Spartans. However, the Spartans got a goal to go up in the match, but got really frustrated by the strong play of Tyler Buttle in goal. Eventually the ball was brought to the other end where we were awarded a corner. From this corner a Spartan tried to clear the ball, but ended up scoring for the Mustangs off his header.  That’s how the first half ended and the second half was just a standoff between the wind and goalies.
