Meet the Coaches

Head Soccer Coach - Mark Kluppel

Mark Kluppel is the Girls' Coach. He graduated from the University of Texas and earned his Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston. Before coming to Taylor in 2003, he was the Assistant Girls Coach at Cy Springs. Coach Kluppel holds the National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). In 2006, Coach Kluppel was named Region III Coach of the Year by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO).

Coach Kluppel grew up in the Houston area and has been married for 18 years to his wife Ann and has two children – Paul 15 and Jennifer 11.

Assistant Coach JV-A - Rick Filson

Rick Filson is the Girls' Assistant Coach and JV-A Coach. This is his first year teaching and coaching at Taylor High School. Rick graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Political Science. He spent the last ten years teaching at Elsik High School in the Alief School District. Rick spent 8 years as the division I soccer coach for the Hurricane Soccer Club and 3 years as a junior high coach. He also assisted on a volunteer basis for the varsity boy’s soccer team at Elsik HS.

Coach Filson has lived in Houston for the last 28 years and has been married for 29 years to his wife Pam and has 3 children and two grandchildren- Melissa 28, Rick 27, Jeffrey 24, Taylor 10, and Braden 3.

Assistant Coach JV-B - Lacey Kalister

Lacey Kalister is the Girls' Assistant Coach and JV-A Coach. This is her first year teaching and coaching at Taylor High School. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with a minor in European Union Studies. Coach Kalister played soccer for a total of 13 years, 3 of which were for the Bear Creek United Club. She also played in high school for Stratford High School where she played left midfielder.

Coach Kalister grew up in the Houston area and has been married 2 years to husband Dustin. They have a son, Campbell, who is 1.
