R E S O L U T I O N


WHEREAS, The Katy Taylor High School girls' soccer team won the 2006 UIL Class 5A State Championship, bringing home the first state soccer championship in the history of the Katy Independent School District; and


WHEREAS, Head coach Mark Kluppel teamed with assistant coaches Andrea Dorr and Todd LeCronier to lead the Mustangs to a 2-1 victory against a talented Carrollton Creekview High School squad in the state championship game on April 15, 2006, at Round Rock ISD Stadium; and


WHEREAS, The Mustangs finished the season with an impressive record of 25 wins, four losses, and one draw; the team recorded 17 shutouts and scored 101 goals, while allowing only 19 goals against; and


WHEREAS, Team members include Kathryn Kramer, Natalie Strabala, Francie Gremillion, Morgan Stelly, Kinsey Davidson, Natasha Cooke, Caitlin Noto, Carol Martins, Kathryn Stelly, Julia Zangirolami, Kristen Boister, Emily McElrath, Natalie Woodham, Kathryn Fondon, Courtney Gremillion, Kayla Palmer, Bridget Barrow, Danay Leffel, Aubrey McDaniell, Emily Pirraglia, Katie Wesneski, Lindsay Gordon, Juliana Borkta, and Catie Depew; and


WHEREAS, The Mustangs also received vital support from trainer Anjanette Butts, student managers Jennifer Kuhn and Matt McDaniell, and student trainers Jake Lubke and Patrick O'Connell; and


WHEREAS, Through their dedication and perseverance in the pursuit of excellence, the members of the 2006 Katy Taylor Mustangs have realized their dream of claiming the state crown, completing this memorable season in championship fashion; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas Legislature hereby commend the Katy Taylor Mustangs on winning the 2006 UIL Class 5A State Championship and extend best wishes to Coach Kluppel and his players for continued success and happiness in all their endeavors; and, be it further


RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
